Leading artists from the Philharmonic, opera or Broadway give private live performances and share exciting backstage stories The Meet-the-Artist School Series presents a wide range of performances specially created for students, giving them the chance to learn about the performing arts-from opera and modern dance to classical music and jazz. Each program showcases a dynamic performance by world-class artists as well as an interactive and instructional segment to give students the chance to experience the arts firsthand.
Enhance a concert of the New York Philharmonic with a sectional, master class or pre concert talk.
 
  • In the Master Classes selected individuals (5-6) will perform for Philharmonic members and receive critiques on their technique, sound and musicianship while their peers listen in.
  • In Sectionals members of the Philharmonic direct a rehearsal of band or orchestra sections (strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, etc.) or a cover conductor of the Philharmonic will lead the entire ensemble. Students hear comments on ensemble playing, intonation, musicianship and team building
  • In the Pre-Concert Talks, a scholar will guide concert-goers through an in-depth exploration of the compositions they will hear at the concert

Perform at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum The Intrepid Museum will close to the public on October 1st, 2006 to prepare for needed renovations along with the rebuilding of Pier 86. The reconstruction and renovations are expected to take 18 months to complete, leading to a reopening of the museum in May 2008.

No visit to New York would be complete without a visit to the Statue of Liberty. Symbolic of the ideals on which our country was founded, the statue’s great size echoes the great hope of the immigrants who came to New York to start their new lives. Ferry to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the gateway through which more than 12 million immigrants passed between 1892 and 1954 in their search for freedom.

If you choose you may debark at Ellis Island and experience the wonder of the immigrants as they set foot on their new home. Go to the American Family Immigration Center, where you can search Ellis Island's records for your own ancestors.
