  Day 3: FLORENCE

Florence or Firenze: No city played a larger part in creation of the Renaissance. A city guide will give a walking tour. As you stand on the Piazza della Signoria, you can almost feel the presence of such masters as da Vinci, Boticelli, Ghilberti, and Raphael. See the Old Palace, stroll over the oldest bridge in Florence, the Ponte Vecchio, and end your tour at the Piazza Del Duomo. The cathedral, along with the campanile and baptistery, create white, green, and pink marble monuments. See the Santa Maria del Fiore, one of the largest cathedrals in the Christian world.

Visit the Duomo, Brunelleschi’s masterpiece, and the famous sculptures on the bronze doors of the Baptistery, which Michelangelo declared to be the “Gates of Paradise”

Afternoon visit to the Galleria dell’Academia to admire Michelangelo’s David

  Day 4: PISA / FLORENCE

Drive through a wide valley, lined with marble quarries and ancient ruins atop small peaks, to Pisa

Tour of the Uffizi Palace Museum, built in the sixteenth century by the patrons of the Renaissance, the de Medici family. Housing many of the finest paintings in the world, the Uffizi traces the development of Italian and European painting from the 13th to 18th centuries

  Day 5: FLORENCE / ROME

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Rome such as the Foro Romano, the ancient ruined city of Rome. Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Romans along the Foro Romano; ancient Rome has been excavated so you can see the Senate and other important buildings of the day

  Day 6: ROME

Cross the Tiber River to visit Vatican City, the world's smallest independent state in terms of area and population

Visit the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo’s masterpiece ceiling depicting The Last Judgment, and St. Peter’s Basilica, which houses the most amazingly beautiful collection of art in the world, including the magnificent "Pieta"

  DAY 7: ROME / POMPEII / SORRENTO

Depart for the UNESCO World Heritage site, the ancient city of Pompeii, 2.5 hour drive, in the province of Campania

Visit Pompeii, the forgotten city at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius, which was buried under many feet of ash on August 24, 79 A.D. Rediscovered and excavated 1,600 years later, the preserved city and streets will give you an excellent idea of Roman life as it was then. Once a resort town for wealthy Romans, Pompeii’s vast ruins include impressive temples, baths, a Forum, streets lined with shops and luxurious houses and lots of great photo opportunities.

  Day 8: ROME

Drive back to Rome via Naples, one of the most colorful cities in Italy

Enjoy Piazza del Plebiscito, the Galleria Umberto and Via Santa Lucia for jewelry and other objects

Arrive in Rome; free time for shopping
