1. How do I register my child for trip participation?

Read the instructions on the reverse side of the enrollment form. This will give you directions for returning it either to the teacher organizer or by mailing it to On Trek. You can also call us with credit card information after faxing a completed enrollment form to On Trek at 775-201-0077. Once your child’s enrollment is received, On Trek will issue monthly payment coupons to you for the remaining payments, unless other arrangements have been requested by the teacher organizer.

2. I’ve missed the deposit date; can I still enroll my child?

Yes, as long as there is space available on the trip. Enrollments received after 60 days prior to travel are subject to a $50 late-add fee and space availability.

3. Can I attend the trip as a chaperone?

We encourage all parents to attend the trip. Since each school and teacher organizer has different requirements for chaperones, please contact your child’s teacher to be sure there is room for you! On Trek will require an enrollment form for all trip participants.

4. Why are adults charged more than students?

Students’ pricing is based on quad occupancy at our hotels. Adult price is based on double occupancy and adult admission fees, where applicable.

5. What forms of payment do you accept?

On Trek accepts personal checks, cashiers checks, money orders, or credit card payments.

6. My child’s trip has a payment schedule. Do I have to make monthly payments?

On Trek has created extended monthly payment schedules so that every parent can afford to send their child on the tour. It is important to maintain your payment schedule as we are reserving airline seats, hotel rooms, buses, and other reservations on your child’s behalf. If you fall behind in the payment schedule, any person waitlisted with all their payments up to date will take first priority. Travelers whose payments fall more than 2 payments behind will be subject to a late payment fee of 10% of the payments due. Travelers whose payments fall more than 50% behind will be placed on a delinquent list without a guaranteed reservation until they become current and space remains available.

7. When is final payment for the trip due?

The final payment is due 60 days prior to the travel date.

8. Which credit cards do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

9. Can I establish automatic monthly payments using my credit card?

Yes, as long as you have indicated this in writing to On Trek.

10. Is it possible to buy trip cancellation insurance?

Yes. You can contact www.csatravelprotection.com or by phoning (800)348-9505. You will send payment directly to them. On Trek does not accept payments for trip cancellation insurance.

11. What is your cancellation fee schedule?

Please refer to the trip enrollment form. All cancellation fees are listed by date with applicable fees stated. Please be aware that these fees do not include non-refundable items such as theatre tickets or other deposits we have paid on behalf of your child; these fees will be in addition to the fees listed. If you need to cancel your child from trip participation, please do so in writing.

12. Can I use frequent flyer miles to pay for my child’s airfare?

Due to restrictions by the airlines for group travel, frequent flyer miles cannot be used.

13. What airlines do you use?

On Trek utilizes all major airlines in the United States, including American, United, Southwest, Alaska, and Hawaiian Airlines. The flight chosen for your child’s trip is contingent upon many factors: seat availability for large groups, price, and direct flights whenever possible.

14. Is it possible to request a change for the return flight home if my child is to visit relatives or we would like to extend our stay?

On Trek will attempt to honor all such requests on a first-come, first-serve basis. The airlines only allow a limited amount of variants per group, and it is entirely contingent upon approval by the airline. On Trek cannot guarantee variant approval for any group.

15. What hotels are used by On Trek?

On Trek utilizes nationally-recognized properties such as Hilton, Hilton Suites, Radisson, Doubletree, Embassy Suites and Hawthorn Suites. All hotels are chosen for their attention to your child’s safety, security, and cleanliness, with a willingness to accommodate the needs of On Trek’s student travelers.

16. How can I reach my child during the trip?

On Trek encourages all children to call home during the trip. However, an itinerary is also provided that includes daily activities, and the hotel’s address and phone number. In the event of an emergency, you may also contact On Trek’s emergency phone 866-4ON-TREK, (866-466-8735).

"I prepared excitedly for my departure, as if this journey had a mysterious significance. I had decided to change my mode of life. Til now, I told myself, "you have only seen the shadow and been well content with it; now, I am going to lead you into the substance."
~ Nikos Kazantzakis, Zorba the Greek
